In order to raise awareness of space among children aged 3 to 6, Cité de l’espace offers kindergarten teachers educational resources specially designed for young children. The Little Engineers and Astronauts project allows young children to discover astronomy and planet Earth, rocket engineering, and the life of an astronaut.

The Cité de l’espace is accessible to children from kindergarten age onwards, thanks to activities and resources adapted to younger visitors. The visit takes place in two stages.
First, the children will take part in a group workshop aimed at preparing a shipment for the astronauts on the International Space Station.
The students will then be able to discover the “world of rockets” and the “world of astronauts” in small groups.
Each one-hour session has a capacity of 25 students accompanied by at least two supervisors.
Concepts covered
- Identify the constraints involved in launching a rocket.
- Select and sort materials suitable for sending into space and justify your choices.
- Identify and comply with mass and volume requirements.
- Understand the changes that occur to the human body in space.
- Discover the daily life of astronauts on the ISS.
Kindergarten Spring Festival
Every year in March, the Cité de l’Espace invites kindergarten classes to participate in the Little Engineers and Astronauts project. This is an opportunity for young children to participate in their “First Planetarium,” the Cité des petits’ “ISS Package” activity, and visit the city with educational worksheets designed for kindergarteners.
In March 2025, 300 kindergarten students were invited to enjoy the new resources offered by the Little Engineers and Astronauts project. If you are interested in this event, come back on March 13 and 14, 2026 for the next edition! You will find the terms and conditions for participation here.
