For the third consecutive year, Cité de l’Espace hosted the closing event of the Moon Camp challenge organized by CNES. This challenge, led by the European Space Agency (ESA) in partnership with the Airbus Foundation and AutoDesk, and coordinated in France by CNES, offers students of all ages up to 19 the opportunity to design their own space base in the format of their choice (3D design, model, drawing, etc.), which they can then install on the celestial body of their choice. A total of 459 students from across France took part in the Moon Camp 2023/2024 challenge.

Space bases in the eyes of experts
To conclude this new year, more than 250 students from Occitanie, Bordeaux, and Caen were able to participate in the Moon Camp closing event and discover the world of space exploration through a conference given by Alexis Paillet, Project Manager at Spaceship for the preparation of future manned space flights.
The students also had the opportunity to meet Alexis Paillet and Magali Bouyssou, operations manager for the Chemcam (Curiosity) and Supercam (Perseverance) instruments on Mars, during an event on the theme of space exploration in pop culture, organized by the Soirées Cult’ team.
The students present also actively participated in the day’s activities. In addition to the various quizzes and activities organized by the Cité de l’Espace and Instant Science animators, the students who took part of the Moon Camp challenge had the opportunity to present their lunar and Martian bases to CNES engineers and received certificates of participation for their superb creations.

The ESERO France team congratulates all the students who participated in this year’s Moon Camp challenge. We hope to see even more of you next year!
