This year’s Moon Camp Challenge was a remarkable demonstration of creativity and innovation as 5354 students from 39 countries set out on a mission to explore and design their own life on the Moon. Inspiring designs were received from all over the world, with representatives from 20 ESA member states, Canada, Slovenia, Latvia and Lithuania. Equipped with 3D design tools, these young visionaries gave free rein to their creativity, creating unique concepts that push the boundaries of lunar home design.
France, pioneer of lunar exploration
The Moon Camp Challenge jury, an expert panel of ESA and Airbus Foundation professionals in the fields of lunar exploration, 3D design and space technologies, was blown away by the impressive quality of the students’ projects. Jury members had the difficult task of selecting the top 3 entries from ESA and non-ESA member states in the Moon Camp Explorers and Moon Camp Pioneers categories. All entries were judged on their creativity and innovation, their feasibility and the quality of their 3D design, and were assessed on the suitability of the design for the lunar environment.
Last year, a French team took first place in the Pioneer category among ESA member states with their “Here we are back” project from the Germaine Tillion high school in Sain Bel. This year, a French team is once again on the podium, taking second place!
We’re proud to present their “Bartholdi Space Program” project from Colmar’s Lycée Bartholdi. Congratulations!
