CanSat Launch
Aimed at high school students, the CanSat project is a European challenge organized by the European Space Agency (ESA) and coordinated in France by CNES and Planète Sciences. The goal of this competition is to build a satellite (Sat) the size of a soda can (Can), capable of conducting scientific and technical experiments according to specifications updated each year. For the 2025/2026 edition, the theme focused on studying floods and detecting early warning signs.
After more than six months of work, the 20 teams of students participating in the project had the opportunity to test their CanSats and present their work to a panel of experts. A total of 17 CanSats passed the various checkpoints and were launched by rocket.

Team selection for the European final
At the end of the first day, which included the launch event and poster presentations, 10 projects were selected to present to the entire jury the following day. The selected teams were invited to present their work in detail during a 10-minute presentation followed by a 5-minute Q&A session.
To conclude these two days of competition, the jury awarded prizes to four teams. The MoonCloud project from the Institut de la Tour received the jury’s “Coup de cœur” award, the team from Lycée Xavier Marmier took third place on the podium with their AquaCanSat project, and the SampleCan team from Lycée Léonard de Vinci took second place. Finally, the winning team that will represent France from June 17 to 19, 2026, at the European final organized by the ESA is:
CanSentinelle from Cité scolaire Bernard Palissy!
The entire ESERO France team would like to congratulate all the participants on this fantastic 2025/2026 edition!
