On this occasion, CNES, which has been coordinating the activities of the ESERO France office since its creation in May 2020, welcomed around fifty students and teachers to Toulouse. Among them were a delegation of classes from the Toulouse Academy’s space network, as well as representatives from the Montpellier Academy. Representatives of ESERO France’s partners were also involved in the event: Cité de l’espace, the LAMAP Foundation, Planète Sciences, and the Airbus Foundation.
This 40-minute exchange between ESA, the three ESERO offices, and the ISS is part of a day of training and conferences on topics related to the Moon Camp challenge. The aim of this project is to use 3D modeling software to design a lunar base and to apply cross-disciplinary skills to develop solutions for a habitat that takes into account the conditions of the lunar environment.

Schedule for the day
The morning session, organized remotely, is dedicated to teachers from elementary school to high school and consists of an introduction to the 3D design software used for the Moon Camp Challenge project. This recurring ESA project, in collaboration with the Airbus Foundation and Autodesk, is being coordinated for the first time this year in France by CNES under the ESERO France office.
In the afternoon, a program of conferences on the Alpha mission and the Spaceship Fr project was proposed, following the highlight of the afternoon: a 20-minute link-up with Thomas Pesquet, French astronaut at the ESA. Discussions focused on the theme of recycling resources on board the ISS and sustainable space. Pilot schools from LAMAP and participants in the 2020/2021 edition of the Moon Camp project were also invited to this event, which they attended remotely.
To watch (or rewatch) the exchange between Thomas Pesquet and the students, as well as the expert conferences, it’s here!
