The Climate Detectives 2024/2025 project, organized by the European Space Agency and coordinated in France by CNES, ended on April 4, 2024. It was a great success with more than 300 students taking part in the Climate Detectives Kids challenge and 74 students, divided into 4 teams, who carried out a research project on the theme of climate change. Impact of light pollution, seasonal variations or even pollution linked to rocket launches, the students were able to use satellite observations as well as ground measurements to study the impact of human activities on the climate and biodiversity.

Bordeaux vineyards come to Italy
To showcase their research work, students from the Paul Esquinance secondary school in La Réole also had the opportunity to visit the ESA’s ESRIN center in Frascati, Italy, for the 2025 Climate Detectives Summit. The students were able to present a poster of their project, aimed at studying the impact of climate change on Bordeaux vineyards, to the 85 students present from 19 different European countries and to ESA experts.
Finally, over the two days of the event, the students had the opportunity to interact with ESA Earth observation specialists during an interactive question-and-answer session and visit ESRIN’s Phi-lab Visitor Centre. They also participated in a debate aimed at designing the next Earth observation mission.

Congratulations to everyone involved in the Climate Detectives 2024-2025 project! We hope to see even more of you next year.
